More air for your clothes

One way to reduce our environmental impact is to reduce the number of washing cycles in the washing machine. Our advice is to hang clothes in the open air instead of washing them when they are not very dirty: fresh air is good for both people and fabrics.

Machine washable

When the garment needs to be washed, it is always preferable to wait until the washing machine or dryer is completely filled before starting the washing and drying cycles: the filling level plays a fundamental role in the consumption of energy, water and detergent.

The choice of detergent is also fundamental: there are numerous detergents that act delicately on the fabric to slow down wear, and it is possible to choose environmentally certified detergents that reduce the impact of household washing on the environment.

Fabric softener: should I use it or not?

Fabric softeners make clothes softer and more fragrant but have several drawbacks. They can cause clothes to deteriorate faster, trigger allergic reactions, and deposit chemicals that stiffen, pill, and discolor fabrics. Softener buildup also reduces absorbency in towels and other fabrics.

Environmentally, fabric softeners harm aquatic life due to toxic chemicals like quaternary ammonium compounds (“quats”).

Avoiding fabric softeners extends clothing life and protects the planet. Alternatives like dryer balls or vinegar offer the same benefits without negative effects.
